The Eco-Ecole (Eco-school) program is an international program launched after the Earth Summit in Rio in 1992. It is supported by the Danish Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) since 1994. In France, the first initiatives date back to 2005; in French Polynesia, they were born in 2010. In 2016, there’s 38 schools registered in the program. It’s relayed in French Polynesia by Florence Vidal from Fedescol, supported by the foundation Colibris and in partnership with the local Government. The objective of this meeting is to first create a dynamic, strengthening the network of eco-school referents and the second is to get more knowledge about the program and to make people want to see new initiatives flourish. Invited to hold a workshop on the marine biodiversity, our two educators went at the DGEE on Tahiti (General Direction for the Education and Teachings) to present all the various pedagogic tools created by the foundation and oriented on the French Polynesian marine environment. For souvenir, our foundation is participating to the Eco-Ecole program with the Collège of Paopao from Moorea since the beginning of their certification, 3 years ago. Congratulations to all the schools that initiate the Eco-Ecole project in their establishment and to the organisation of this event (Mme Vidal, Colibris Tahiti, etc) that gathered more than 100 teachers, directors and education advisors for Tahiti and Moorea.
