This is the first time in the story of our foundation : te mana has never been to the Marquesas Islands. This is now something done since one month thanks to the Agence des Aires marines Protégées (Protected Areas Agency) which have appointed te mana to provide an awareness raising campain based on the project held called “AME” (Marine Educative Area).
“In fact, those actions are conducted in the following of the “AME label” in which we are taking part of since 3 years. Since the first presentations of the project, we were touched by this process and would immediately get involved in it” confided Vie Stabile, director. Since that time, te mana has participated to the conception of the “AME toolkit”. Recently, the Agence des Aires Marines Protégées asked Te mana to produce an Educational Teachers Guide that will be included in the toolkit. One month ago, our Marine Biologist Matthieu has joined the team of the Agency and of the Marquesas Island Foundation Motu Haka to provide educational programs for the students but also for the teachers and the local community involved in the project. In two weeks, they covered 5 islands, raising awareness of more than 150 persons, thanks to the Arago ship that welcomed them aboard.
