Poached with an arrow impact in the neck, this 49cm and 13.5kg turtle named Vaihaunui was found by a resident of Papetoai at the edge of the shore, floating and motionless.
Alerted, we were able to recover it and to start a treatment protocol. Antibiotic treatment was first administered to treat any infection due to the arrow impact. Then, a rehabilitation plan was put in place for a gradual return to the Care center lagoon.
We will make sure to keep you informed!
