A new green turtle was welcomed to the Sea turtle care center.
It was found floating in Afareaitu in Moorea. A local resident saw it and realized that a spear was still lodged in its neck. After taking it out of the water, he contacted our foundation.
When we arrived, the turtle was very responsive despite the presence of the spear. After gently extracting the object from its neck, the injured turtle was taken to the treatment room where the examination revealed 2 deep wounds and some impacts on the shell and on a fin.
Named Pahani by the resident as per the name of the neighborhood where it was found, Pahani was installed in the care room after injections of antibiotics and painkillers.
We will keep you posted on its development in the coming weeks.
