This collaboration allows our team members residing in Moorea to reach our organization free of charge, as well as facilitates the transportation of injured turtles during rescues.

This week, during its release in Opunohu Bay, Pereiti, a hawksbill turtle we cared for at our rehabilitation center, traveled from Tahiti to Moorea aboard the ferry.

Since 2020, EDT Engie has been supporting our foundation. This year, we implemented a great awareness project for children and young people from Faa’a immersed within the association for the protection of sea turtles thanks to this partnership.

To support our 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗞𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝟯 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗯𝗼𝗮𝘁 (turtle in the Caribbean) in its 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗼 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲, a solo non-stop race around the world, we wanted to 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿 him 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝘂’𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆, our green sea turtle plush during this long adventure.

A friendly support during this incredible race on the world’s seas.

At the same time, we invited a 𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝙤𝙛 4𝙩𝙝 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙏𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙫𝙖𝙤 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 and its teacher Moevai Roche to participate in this project. They had the opportunity to speak via videoconference with François before his departure and will follow him in the coming weeks of the race.

Students will be able to:

Named 𝓗a𝓲𝓽𝓪𝓶𝓪 by the Vairao firefighters, 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐬 𝟒𝟔 𝐤𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝟕𝟒 𝐜𝐦.

This green turtle was found on the West Taiarapu peninsula last Friday. She was taken to the Fariipiti veterinary clinic for initial examinations before being transferred to the rehabilitation center.

She suffers from 𝘵𝘸𝘰 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘴 looking like a shock: 𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸. 𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱.

As part of the 𝙃𝙖𝙖𝙥𝙞’𝙞 𝙣𝙤 𝙩𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙪𝙧𝙪, we were delighted to welcome young people from the Association Hotuarea Nui to work on their personal projects, following an immersion day within the association, during which they were able to discover the professions linked to environmental protection.

On the program – 𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯:

• Aquarium model illustrating a healthy and a damaged reef

• Scavenger hunt game with an environmental quizz

• Poster to protect turtles

• Drawing to raise awareness of global warming

• Model of a plastic continent in the ocean

In total, 15 young people will have the opportunity to participate in this immersion project and discover jobs related to environment protection.We’d like to thank all the participants for their achievements !

Alexandra had the opportunity to visit our Sea turtle rehabilitation center located in Tahiti and to discover our actions for green sea turtle and coconut crabs studies on Tetiaroa atoll. Alexandra has a degree in geography and took a close interest in our turtle nesting mapping tools with the support of our partner: Esri France.

We are honored to support Alexandra and the cause she supports. We would also like to thank our partner Air Tahiti Nui who supported her in this project.Congratulations to Alexandra for her commitment!

Released by the singer Ayo, the veterinarian and coordinator of the Sea turtle rehabilitation center, Jade, and the manager of Top Dive Tahiti, Gäelle, the 3 juveniles were able to safely return to the ocean.

Found on Tetiaroa in January 2023, they were trapped in their nest by roots and coral. Some, like Aoru, were even trapped in shells! After a few months of care and rehabilitation, the 3 juveniles were perfectly healthy and measured around 16 cm in shell length.

Rebecca Brando and the Tetiaroa Society organized a special evening for the occasion.

In 2022, Rebecca Brando became the “Godmother” of the scientific studies and monitoring of sea turtles on the atoll her father bought in 1966.

As such, she came to take part in our monitoring activities last February and communicates widely to her network and internationally on the objectives of our studies.

Since the transfer of Te mana o te moana from Moorea to Tahiti, Hello Scoot’ has been allowing our collaborators who live in Moorea to travel from the dock to our new premises thanks to the lending of their 𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒄 𝒔𝒄𝒐𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔. A great help which has really given a hand to the association.

We were delighted to welcome Hello Scoot’ staff and their families in our premises.

A great moment with the discovery of the Sea turtle rehabilitation center and Te mana o te moana protection actions. The families were very pleased to:

• Meet our turtles resident
• Learn more about sea turtles
• Carry out educational activities, which children enjoyed a lot!
