Participation to the 2017 SIG Conference, thanks to ATN

Thanks to the support of the company Air Tahiti Nui (ATN), Te mana o te moana participated in the 2017 SIG Conference, the ESRI francophone conference on geographic information systems, 11 and 12 October 2017. This conference gathered more than 3 people from a wide range of horizons. We have been able to highlight our actions in the field of protection of the marine environment in French Polynesia, including marine turtles in partnership and with the support of the Environment Directorate of French Polynesia. Our participative science program “Hei Moana” has also been presented.
We warmly thank Air Tahiti Nui for its support that allows us to participate in conferences, International Congresses and promote knowledge in French Polynesia through the reception of scientists and renowned people working for the conservation of the oceans.

Coralie’s arrival, thanks to our partner Air Tahiti Nui

At the beginning of the laying season, we would like to thank Air Tahiti Nui, partner of the association Te mana o te moana for more than 4 years. The “tiare” company allowed the arrival last week of Coralie Balmy for the volunteer missions of the follow-up of green turtles eggs in Tetiaroa which will begin very soon, in collaboration with Tetiaroa Society and the hotel The Brando. Coralie will participate in the actions of awareness and protection of Polynesian marine world as well as help us with sick or injured turtles, thanks to its expertise on turtles in care after a year spent at CESTMed of Le Grau du Roi in France.

Run and help to the sea turtles conservation…

The Nature et Découvertes Foundation organize a huge “challenge of strides” to help our Foundation and the Sea turtle Clinic we manage. To save the sea turtles of French Polynesia, participants just had to sleep on their pair of sneakers and rise to the 3 challenges proposed before the last one challenge celebrated on June 5. Each kilometer performed on June 5th will be converted into euro to save them. In total, over 37 257 km were crossed by 15 339 participants!! An undeniable success that allowed the Foundation to donate 30 000 euros to Te mana o te moana.
With this funding, we will improve the functioning of the Sea Turtle Clinic (which has already welcomed and treated more than 400 turtles) and to develop teaching materials, create a discovery of marine turtles outdoor runs…. We thank the Nature et Découvertes Foundation for this beautiful project, the Air Tahiti Nui company who offered an airline ticket for the 2 winners and the InterContinental Moorea Resort and Spa that also offered two nights the hotel of Moorea.
