On Wednesday July 26, we were delighted to welcome children from the Ahuri-Ao association of Papara for an educational program

In total, 55 children aged from 3 to 14 took part in a 𝖣𝖨𝖲𝖢𝖮𝖵𝖤𝖱𝖸 𝖯𝖱𝖮𝖦𝖱𝖠𝖬 with :

– A time for 𝒆𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔: “turtles and words” game, the epic story of a sea turtle, video on the life cycle of a sea turtle…

– A time to 𝒗𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒂 𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒉𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑪𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓

Our collaboration with Paul Gauguin Cruises continues

We are delighted to announce the pursuit of our MOANA EXPLORER program aboard the Paul Gauguin boat! Since 2019, Te mana o te moana has been leading the Moana Explorer program on board the Paul Gauguin Cruises.

Reserved for child cruise passengers on board during specific school holidays, Te mana o te moana’s naturalist guides propose many activities on board, ashore and at sea. Fauna and flora observations, snorkeling, educational games and fun activities punctuate the daily program. Many themes are covered: islands’ creation, star gazing, coral reef discovery, rays, sharks, birds, sea turtles, island survival or meeting the captain of the boat.

A unique opportunity to share knowledge with children on the Polynesian marine environment and to educate them on the importance of safeguarding our environment.

In 2023, the association’s naturalist guides will be on board during 11 cruises and in 2024 during 10 cruises.

Te mana o te moana will coordinate the Science Festival for the 7th consecutive year

This year again, Te mana o te moana is coordinating the Science Festival in French Polynesia!

Starting on November 18th and finishing on November 26th, the 31st edition will highlight the climate change phenomenon and will present possible solutions to slow down its progression.

Many activities will be proposed: a 2-day science festival, 2 conference cycles, over 80 education workshop in class, 2 e-learning videos, and much more.

“AITA te pehu: protect your fenua” – A 2-day event to educate children on plastic pollution

Within the framework of the “AITA te pehu: protect your fenua” project conducted in partnership with the Direction of the Environment of and the Moorea-Maiao Municipality, an event was organized on November 9th and 10th, 2022 at the Temae beach in Moorea.

This event, open to all, welcomed 223 schoolchildren from Moorea 3rd grade classes. Many activities were organized during the day:

Hunt for solutions against plastic pollution
Waste sorting workshop
Presentation of eco-responsible daily products
Educational games
And much more…

A great event with children that demonstrated a lot of enthusiasm from the beginning to the end of the event!

HONU class visit

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Mrs Karine Lejeune’s 6th grade HONU class from Pao Pao College. This class’ educational objective is to highlight the importance of protecting sea turtles with a focus on the impact of climate change on the species.

During the year, class students will work on the creation of 2 posters on this theme. The posters will then be exhibited at he Science Village during the 2022 Science Festival, which will take place at the Assembly of Polynesia next November. At the same time, the students will work on the creation of a gazette in order to share their knowledge with other college students.

Educational programs are in full swing

Since the start of the school holidays, educational programs have been in full swing at Te mana o te moana.

The young teenagers in Arii Heiva Rau – Francas holiday camps came to meet the association: 70 young people had the pleasure of discovering the residents of the Care Center as part of a Discovery Program.

A very beautiful moment of exchanges with these young people from the islands of the Tuamotus, Australs, Marquesas or even Tahiti who are fully aware of the importance of protecting sea turtles and the ravages of plastic pollution.

Pao Pao College students visit us

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming 6th grade students from Pao Pao College labeled Educative Marine Area (AME) to participate in a 𝗟𝗔𝗚𝗢𝗡 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗥𝗘 program around marine biodiversity.

Students were able to:

𝘋𝘐𝘚𝘊𝘖𝘝𝘌𝘙 the coral path located in the lagoon: observation of corals, clown fish, triggerfish, anemones, sea sponges and much more.
𝘓𝘌𝘈𝘙𝘕 while having fun thanks to the association’s educational games on themes related to the environment: PGEM protection plan, marine mammals, turtles, corals, environmental protection, etc.
𝘝𝘐𝘚𝘐𝘛 the Sea turtle care center: discovery of the residents in care and how to identify the 2 most common Polynesian sea turtle species
𝘋𝘌𝘌𝘗𝘌𝘕 their knowledge on marine biodiversity: corals, fish, relationships between animals, importance of resource protection, etc.

A big thank you to the students for their enthusiasm and to the teachers of the Pao Pao College for their trust

Project MOHINA TIUA NO TE TAMARII for Teenagers Centers (CJA)

In December, the teenagers from the Centre de Jeunes Adolescents (CJA) from Paea, Papeete, Punaauia et Vaiare received the visit of our Education Director Vie Stabile for a project on plastic pollution supported by the Funds for the Development of Associative Life (FDVA).

The objective was to convey a strong message to the youth about the dangers of plastic pollution through an educational workshop and the distribution of ecological flasks.

In total, 200 teenagers had the chance of having an educational workshop and receiving a bottle for the great satisfaction of the teenagers and the teachers!
