During the conference, our Founder and Executive Director, Cécile Gaspar was able to present the actions carried out thanks to this support and in particular the UNIVAIRMER Passport, the Coral Clinic and the MANA HONU Project against plastic pollution. More than 300 guests and collaborators were present, including representatives of Air Tahiti Nui whom we would like to thank again for their support.

Cécile focused on TRUE sustainable tourism with examples of actions to take before choosing your destination, hotel, activities and always having a focus on the environmental impact of your choice.

The Pacific Beachcomber group’s examples were highlighted, with the seawater depth air conditioning system, the creation of Green teams, the elimination of single-use plastics and the development of Green tours with trained naturalist guides

This year, the selected speaker was none other than Jean-Francois Clervoy, French astronaut and patron of Te mana o te moana.

Thanks to Fabienne and Jean Dionnet of UNIVAIRMER for their welcome and their passion for tourism and the protection of our planet!

Dr. Cécile Gaspar, Co-founder & Executive Director of Te mana o te moana, Dr. Sylvia Earle, President of Mission Blue and SAS Prince Albert II de Monaco

The 10th Monaco Blue Initiative took place on 24 and 25 March 2019 in Monaco under the presidency of Prince Albert II of Monaco on the theme ‘Marine Protected Areas’ (MPA).

A Marine Protected Area (MPA) is an area that combines land with the water column that covers it, its fauna, its flora, as well as its historical and cultural peculiarities. This is one of the conservation strategies used in the management of natural resources.

Dr. Cécile Gaspar, Co-Founder & Executive Director of Te mana o te moana, participated in this event and was able to share her experience in French Polynesia with many international participants. She also talked about the importance of Marine Educational Areas (AME) as Te mana o te moana is responsible for children’s education on AME locally.
