Over 70 000 children were welcomed in 11 years and 50 educational games were created. We are now very are pleased to present our first game to sell : the “Eco island” game.
This game teaches how to become an eco-citizen through good daily practices and is oriented on our Polynesian ecosystem.
The game is sold at a price of 6,000 CFP. Only available in French.

From October 7th to the 10th, many events are organized as part of the celebration of the Science Fair in French Polynesia.

For this 24th edition of the Science Fair, we co-organized with the country of French Polynesia and the High Commission from the French Polynesia, this new edition on the theme :  Ecosystem services in French Polynesia: what is nature?

Through this, this Science Fair‘s goals are to highlight the importance of the nature for our human life and the benefits of the French Polynesian ecosytemes for maintaining economic activity and well-being.

From 7 to 10 October 2015, different events are organized for the Consumer and school in French Polynesia: cycle of conferences, exhibitions pictures entertainment in the Colleges (3rd) and High Schools, day open house” by Research centers and giant projection for fencing events.

Mr Leatherback is a fervent defender of the sea turtles…

To relay his message to the public, he travels the world dressed up as a Leatherback turtle to raise awareness of the children and the adults to the sea turtles conservation. We were really proud to welcome him at the Clinic on June 5th. He proposed a special dance-show to the school children that winned the 2015 Contest “Protect our oceans” : the classroom of Tubuai, Austral Islands and the classroom of Haapiti, Moorea. In exchange, the children offered him a special local dance in which he has taken part of….  French Polynesia is the 92nd contry visited by Mr Leatherback.

Accompanied by our educators Charlotte and Magali, they have discovered centers, aquariums, bays, the mangroves, and all the marine flora and fauna of New-Cladonia. This travel is the result of one year of hard work on the emblematic species conservation such as sea turtles and marine mammals. Beginning of the second part of the Protect the ocean project… https://www.temanaotemoana.org/en/more-than-80-children-welcomed-in-2-days-as-part-of-the-protect-the-ocean-project/ Sat, 09 May 2015 23:46:35 +0000 http://www.temanaotemoana.org/?p=10120 web DSC00038Thanks to the support of the PEW Charitable Trusts, a second part of the project consists in inviting school children, which have participated to the project held, to come on Moorea and exchange with another classeroom, participating at the same time to various pedagogic activities such as the visit of the coral garden, the sea turtle clinic and the dolphin lagoon, playing on educational gameboards… The first day of exchange was held on Tuesday 5th. School children from Tahiti (Taharuu elementary school) were welcomed to the “Fare Moana” for a happy and funny morning. But before they started to play games, the two classerooms have presented their respective production to the conservation of the ocean. In fact, the goal of this educational project was to create, either a charter or a poster, to explain to other children of French Polynesia the importance to respect and protect our ocean…. The production will be included in a toolkit created by the foundation that will be published soon. After having explained their production, they particpated to the activities proposed by Vie, Magali and Jonathan… (one if the classeroom has even wrote down a letter and sent it to the president of French Polynesia). web DSC_0800

The second school of Moorea (CE1-CE2 of Maharepa) came on Wednesday to give us their charter and play with us during the all morning… The next one will come on June 5th (exchange between a classeroom of Tubuai, Austral Islands and Moorea).
We do actually gathered more than 6 productions from the school which participated to this project (Tahiti – Moorea – Austral Islands)…. We will inform you about the winner classeroon soon…

This education, research and conservation project is as part of the Observatory for cetacean and sea turtles held in 2011 in French Polynesia. That’s how this project « BULA HONU, follow the sea turtles of the Pacific » was born thanks to the support of the Nature et Découvertes Foundation, the Total Foundation, the Biome Entity, the Gauguin Cruises, the Moorea Dolphin Center, the CNES, the Maud Fontenoy Foundation, the Brando hotel, the Fonds Pacifique, the Ifrecor Polynesia, the Board of Education, the General Direction of Education and Teachings (DGEE), research centers and partners of the Pacific.

web Intervention TikehauDifferents school classes of Tahiti, Moorea, Tuamotu but also from France, Tonga, Samoa, Fijii, New Caledonia and others countries of the South Pacific are exchanging and following the travel of six sea turtles equippeed by staellite transmitters. Children discover all together the great journey of the French polynesia sea turtles.

After exchanging during the all school year on the marine embmematic species we need to proect, through a website (in both French and English) dedicated to the project, a classroom from Moorea will travel over to New Caledonia in May 2015 to encounter the schools they exchanged with during the year. web TUHERAHERA 30mars

For now, we are pleased to introduce you the 6 sea turtles, equipped by satellite transmitters between December 2014 and March 2015 on the islands of Tikehau, Hao, Tetiaroa and Moorea, in clicking on the following link : Bula honu.

This project is held thanks to the Ministry of the Environment, In fact, the website dedicated for the project has been realized by the Board of Education of French Polynesia and approved by the in French Polynesia.

Goals of the project held during the all school year 2013-2014 are to aim at a better understanding of our PGEM of Moorea (Management Plan for the Marine Areas), the rules applied, and to give a better knowledge of the marine fauna and flora. This project is conducted with the 7 elementary schools of Moorea (children from 9 to 11 years old).WEB ALIZEE

As part of our missions in education, TE ME UM (Terres et Mers Ultras-Marines) program helps to conduce this project.Vie and Magali have conducted numerous animation sessions with classes (visit of an underwater trail, intercative and pedagogic activities onsite..) to get a better knowledge and so to better preserve the marine environment. In souvenir, every school children has got a booklet « Tohorä, baleine à bosse qui es-tu ? ».

To celebrate the World Ocean Day, the two classes which winned the contest have joined us to enjoy a special moment with a dolphin from Moorea Dolphin Center; playing activities with the City hall of Moorea Maiao and the foundation PGEM, and getting their gifts rewarding their hard work and enjoying a snack offered by the hôtel InterContinental Resort and Spa Moorea.

A huge congratulations to the :

– classe of CM2 of Mr Gabriel Lovato from Haapiti Elementay school who winned the First Prize and,

– the classe of CE1-CE2 from Mrs Alizée Hauariki who winned the second prize.

As part of the 2013-2014 school project developped by the foundation and supported by the Te Me Um program, all the school children aged from 9 and 11 years from the all 7 schools of Moorea were welcomed for a special program in order to get a better knowledge of our marine ressouces and emblematic species. On that day, it was the 26 students of Paopao Elementary School (CM1 level of Mr Joackim) that were welcomed, enjoying to visit the coral reefs garden, the Sea turtle Clinic and the dolphin lagoon area… Next intervention… soon….

In the company of our marine biologist, the school children of Papetoai Elementary school of Moorea have visited the underwater trail realized by Te mana o te moana during 45 minutes. During that time, another educator from the foundation played with others groups using educational game boards.. ]]> Lauching of the 2013-2014 school project… https://www.temanaotemoana.org/en/lauching-of-the-2013-2014-school-project/ Sun, 08 Dec 2013 19:17:59 +0000 http://www.temanaotemoana.org/?p=9253 a web P1030853Thanks to the Te meum (Terres et Mers Ultras-Marines) program and in partnership with the City hall of Moorea-Maiao, of the Moorea’s education department from the Direction of Primary School, and the PGEM foundation, Te  mana o te moana is able to a renew for the 2013-2014 school year, an educational project regarding the 9-11 years old school chilren from the island of Moorea. Goals are to  give a better understanding of our natural marine ecosystem (corals, fish, marine mammals and emblematic species like sea turtles…) in order to increase the children awareness towards the necessity of protecting our marine ressources.  This project is devides into 3 steps. First of all, the policeman from the city hall is presenting the PGEM (Management Plan for the Marine Areas of Moorea) into the classeroom. Then, educators from Te mana o te moana are welcoming the chilren at the beach of Tiahamanu where they will invite the children to visit an underwater trail during 45 minutes.

a web P1030856At the end of the morning, school children participated to pedagogic activities before returning at school. As a souvenir of their learning, every child will get a booklet “Tohora, humpback whale how are you?”created to aim at a better understang of the marine mammals conservation. First animations were provided on December 04th, 2013 in the company of the school children from Haapiti Elementary school (see pictures) and will fiinished on May 2014.
