The World Ocean Network brings together aquariums, science centers, museums, associations and NGO\u2019s, educational or environmental organisations from around the world. These organisations reach each year over 200 million people.<\/h5>\n

\"\"<\/a>The members of the World Ocean Network have decided to create the Citizen of the Ocean<\/strong> status in reaction to the rapidly growing degradation of the world ocean, composed of all the communicating seas and oceans of the planet, and the threats weighting down on our planet and earth\u2019s life because of this progressive deterioration.<\/p>\n

Each Citizen of the Ocean is a sea ambassador of the Earth.<\/strong> By being aware of the situation, by concretely acting thanks to small daily actions, everyone can give its contribution to the oceans\u2019 protection and the better management of our marine resources so the next generations can have a viable future.<\/p>\n

Every single little action counts for the sake of our blue planet :<\/span> six billion small actions can launch a huge global trend !<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n

\"\"<\/a>The te mana o te moana association, which chairman is a founder member of the World Ocean Network<\/a>, relays this worldwide education initiative<\/strong> on the threats that weight down on future of the oceans and distributes the Citizen of the Ocean Passport<\/strong> (adult passports available in English and French, kids passports available in French).<\/p>\n

Immediate action is required! Our future and that of our children depends on the efforts that each one of us makes to save the ocean starting now. If more of us act now, we will benefit from the resources of the World Ocean for far longer and much better. This passport encourages us to work in favour of sustainable development with millions of others across the world.<\/em><\/p>\n

A FEW IDEAS FOR ACTIONS<\/span> AND ACTIVITIES<\/span><\/h3>\n

– Throw wastes in the appropriate place.
\n– When shopping take a basket or carton with you, try not to use disposable plastic bags.
\n– Try to buy bulk products or products with minimal packaging.
\n– Organize recycling at home, at your workplace and in your neighbourhood.
\n– Collect old batteries and place them in a designated container. Do the same for other pollutants.
\n– When there is a pollution problem help clean or organize cleaning a site. Alert the relevant authorities.
\n– Organize an informative action regarding the ocean at your workplace or with a group of friends and family.<\/p>\n
