As much as possible, special events are organised on the island of Moorea, so that local schools &#8211; that can not move to the island of Tahiti &#8211; can still participate.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"color: #008000;\">Environment Day<\/span><\/strong>, June 5th<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/journ\u00e9es-environnement-tahiti-juin-2008-12.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" src=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/journ\u00e9es-environnement-tahiti-juin-2008-12-284x213.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"230\" height=\"173\" \/><\/a>Every year, a number of institutions, government organisations, NGO\u2019s, associations, and people from around the world celebrate on <strong>June 5th<\/strong> the <strong>Environment Day<\/strong>. The day is punctuated of animations and concrete actions to <strong>inform and teach the public<\/strong> about the well known fate of the world environment and the means to protect it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In <strong>French Polynesia<\/strong>, the June 5th event is coordinated by the <strong>Ministry for Sustainable Development<\/strong>. The <strong><em>te mana o te moana<\/em><\/strong> association plays an active role during this Environment Day. This <strong>day dedicated to the Ocean<\/strong> is a true celebration of the sea and its resources <strong>to\u00a0raise awareness\u00a0on the vital role of the oceans and the need to protect them<\/strong>. Simultaneously on the 5 continents, over a hundred institutions offer to the public various animations, initiatives and festivities (music, painting, sculpture, dance, contests\u2026) to celebrate the sea.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This event is intended to be an exemplary day of mobilization, education, information and action dedicated to the marine environment. Its goal is to <strong>inform<\/strong> each of us and give us the possibility to <strong>act<\/strong> as Citizens of the Ocean by contributing to a better management of the Ocean for everyone\u2019s wellbeing. The <strong>World Ocean Network<\/strong> contributes to the Oceans World day. It brings together over a hundred organisations, museums, aquariums, environmental or educational NGO\u2019s and private organisations that altogether reach over 200 million people every year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/groupe-bis-fin-.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"groupe bis fin\" src=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/groupe-bis-fin--284x213.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"284\" height=\"213\" \/><\/a>The <strong><em>te mana o te moana<\/em><\/strong> association, member of the World Ocean Network, is the initiator of the World Ocean Day <strong>in French Polynesia<\/strong>, a country that is especially dependant of the sea and its resources. style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Te mana o te moana<\/em> is very sensitive to the educational role of Science\u00a0Festival and works with the research organisations partnering its activities like the <strong>CRIOBE<\/strong> and the <strong>GUMP Station<\/strong> to organise <strong>open-doors days<\/strong> and welcome <strong>schools<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a width=\"284\" height=\"213\" \/><\/a>Every year, in <strong>September<\/strong>, the <strong>International Cleanup Day<\/strong> involves thousands of volunteers removing debris from beaches and shorelines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The aim of this annual event is a <strong>better protection and conservtaion of the marine and coastal environment<\/strong>, as well as <strong>raising populations\u2019 awareness of ecosystems\u2019 vulnerability<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In <strong>French Polynesia<\/strong>, many diving centers together with the tahitian surf federation, administrations, non-profit foundations, sports clubs, schools and religious groups clean up rubbish on beaches and in the lagoons of Tahiti and her islands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/education\/events\/attachment\/clean-up-day2006\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7028\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-7028\" title=\"Clean-up-day2006\" src=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/Clean-up-day2006.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a>This event is a good example of joint actions towards a better protection of the polynesian marine environment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">All citizens are invited to take action and participate in the event, and, afterwards, to <strong><em>make a difference every day by properly disposing of waste<\/em><\/strong> and collecting debris every Since that time, the city hall of Moorea organize each year the celebration of this event. Te mana o te moana is always participating to this events.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">More information :<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ramsar.org\/cda\/fr\/ramsar-home\/main\/ramsar\/1_4000_1__\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.ramsar.org\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>Tahiti-Moorea Sailing<\/strong><\/span> <strong>rendez-vous<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tahiti Moorea sailing rendez-vous is an annual event of sailing tourism in Tahiti. <strong>Each year more than 80 sailing boats <\/strong>take part in the crossing.<em><strong> Te mana o te moana <\/strong><\/em>is annually sollicited to raise awareness on marine environment during this event.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/atoll-Tetiaroa.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1036\" title=\"atoll (Tetiaroa)\" src=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/atoll-Tetiaroa-284x213.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"229\" height=\"171\" \/><\/a>For the year 2010 (june 18th), it was the opportunity for those types of tourists to dicover <strong>actions plans<\/strong> elaborated on Moorea and discover the underwater trail with our marine biologist. At least, they were invited to protect the seas by receveing a citizen of the ocean passeport.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>In 2009<\/strong> (June 19th to 21st), <em><strong>te mana o te moana<\/strong><\/em> displayed an <strong>information booth <\/strong>in the event village in Tahiti to raise sailors\u2019 awareness on marine environment before the crossing. Sailors found out various projects of <strong><em>te mana o te moana<\/em><\/strong> and took part in games and activities on sea turtles, pollution and marine environment protection. The information booth was a real success!
