With the <strong>financial support of the <a title=\"Partners\" href=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/about-us\/partners\/\">CRISP<\/a><\/strong>, te mana o te moana has worked on a <strong>two-years project towards the promotion of sustainable tourism in relation with coral reefs<\/strong>&#8230;<\/h5>\n<h6>Trainings with tourism operators, edition of practical guides and partnership with a pilot company were the main components of this program. These actions aiming have helped tourism operators in French Polynesia to become more eco-friendly in their activity.<\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1>A practical Guide<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">on Sustainable tourism<\/span><\/h1>\n<h6>This guide on sustainable tourism, adapted to French Polynesia&#8217;s specificities, adresses hotels and pensions and provides tips and solutions to set-up an more sustainable and eco-friendly activity, and to apply to eco-certification.<\/h6>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This guide is inspired from the guide <em>\u00abMaking small hotels and Resorts Environmentally sustainable : a simple checklist for Fiji Operators\u00bb<\/em>, edited in 2003 within a project for the promotion of sustainable tourism in Fidji. It summarizes all local and international recommendations and initiatives aiming at a more sustainable nautical tourism.<\/h6>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/conservation\/tourisme-durable\/attachment\/guide-pratique-gestes-eco-responsables-couv\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6135\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-6135\" title=\"Guide pratique gestes \u00e9co-responsables COUV\" src=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Guide-pratique-gestes-\u00e9co-responsables-COUV-149x213.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"149\" height=\"213\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Guide-pratique-gestes-\u00e9co-responsables-COUV-149x213.jpg 149w, https:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Guide-pratique-gestes-\u00e9co-responsables-COUV.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 149px) 100vw, 149px\" \/><\/a>2000 copies have been printed to be <strong>handed out to tourism operators and environmental actors<\/strong> in French Polynesia. It is distributed during trainings, environmental events, or when visiting activities centers and institutions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Download the Guide (in French): <a href=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/education\/supports-%c3%a9ducatifs\/attachment\/guide-tourisme-nautique\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-5365\">Guide Tourisme nautique et protection du milieu marin en Polyn\u00e9sie fran\u00e7aise<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1>Training<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">for tourism operators<\/span><\/h1>\n<h6>A special training on &#8220;preserving the marine environment&#8221; has been organised for lagoon tourism operators on the most touristic islands: Bora-Bora, Tahiti, Moorea, and Fakarava, which has recently been named UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.<\/h6>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During these trainings, special attention was given to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/conservation\/tourisme-durable\/attachment\/raietourismedurable\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6137\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-6137\" title=\"RaieTourismeDurable\" src=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/RaieTourismeDurable.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"165\" \/><\/a>providing knowledge, practical tools and tips, easy to use bay the operators during their everyday work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">raising awareness about environmental problems and issues<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">collecting the comments and opinions expressed par the tourism operators about the problems encountered in their activity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Four days of trainings have been organised and shared between the islands of Bora-Bora, Fakarava, Moorea and Tahiti. The training was delivered by <strong>Matthieu Petit (te mana o te moana) and Christophe Cicculo (Service de la Jeunesse et des Sports de Polyn\u00e9sie fran\u00e7aise)<\/strong> on Tahiti and Moorea.<\/p>\n<h6><a title=\"2010, march 29th and 30th \u2013 2 training days for tourism operators\" href=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/education-2\/2010-march-29th-and-30th-%e2%80%93-2-training-days-for-tourism-operators\/\">March 29-30, 2010 \u2013 2 training days for tourism operators<\/a><\/h6>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1>Presence<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">at the Tourism Fair<\/span><\/h1>\n<h6><a href=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/conservation\/tourisme-durable\/attachment\/stand-information\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6136\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"Stand information\" src=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Stand-information-284x213.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"284\" height=\"213\" \/><\/a>Te mana o te moana was present at the Tourism Fair in Tahiti in September 2009.<\/h6>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This event gathers all local <strong>actors of tourism<\/strong> (GIE Tahiti Tourisme, Ministry in charge of Tourism, Ministry in charge of Health and Sustainable Development, hotels, family pensions, nautical activities operators).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Te mana o te moana&#8217;s objective was to <strong>raise awareness<\/strong> and contribute to the take-off of sustainable tourism in French Polynesia and in the Pacific.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1>Supporting<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">BoraEcoFish company<\/span><\/h1>\n<h6>This small company, created in 2005, works specifically on post larval stages and on invertebrates. This aquacultural farm uses a technic which is known as ecological (collection of post larvae on the reef crest) and preserving the reefs ressources. Objectives are to monitor lagoon fishes or help hotels in restauring their degraded coral reefs.<\/h6>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/conservation\/tourisme-durable\/attachment\/postlarves1\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6144\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-6144\" title=\"PostLarves1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/PostLarves1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/conservation\/tourisme-durable\/attachment\/postlarves2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6145\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-6145\" title=\"PostLarves2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/PostLarves2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>BoraEcoFish is a good example of a <strong>commercial activity taking into consideration sustainability<\/strong>, and offering interesting potential links with local ecotourism.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Te mana o te moana, within the project &#8220;promotion of sustainable tourism&#8221; funded by the <a title=\"Partners\" href=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.com\/about-us\/partners\/\">CRISP<\/a>, has proposed a <strong>strategic plan to promote and explain BoraEcoFish&#8217;s experience<\/strong> towards local and international private and public partners.
