Goals are to aim at a better understanding of our <strong>PGEM of Moorea<\/strong> (Management Plan for the Marine Areas), the rules applied, and to give a better knowledge of the marine fauna and flora. This project is conducted with the 7 elementary schools of Moorea (children from 9 to 11 years old).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the <strong>2012-2013<\/strong> school year, this project was supported\u00a0 by the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fondation-nicolas-hulot.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Fondation Nicolas Hulot pour la Nature et l\u2019Homme<\/a> and in partnership with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dep.pf\/\" target=\"_blank\">Direction of Primary School<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mooreamaiao.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">City hall of Moorea Maiao. <\/a>Last year, <strong>7 classerooms<\/strong>, around <strong>300<\/strong> school chilren have participated to the project. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mooreamaiao.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">For this <strong>2013-2014<\/strong> year, the project has been renewed thanks to the support of the <a href=\"www.http:\/\/temeum.espaces-naturels.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>TE ME UM Program<\/strong><\/a> (Terres et Mers Ultras-Marines) and <strong>Isabella Ponta<\/strong>, one of our generous donor. It&#8217;s still developped in\u00a0and in partnership with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dep.pf\/\" target=\"_blank\">Direction of Primary School<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mooreamaiao.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">City hall of Moorea Maiao. <\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The novelty for this year is that the classerooms are coming to the te mana o te moana facility to visit the Sea turtle Clinic and the Dolphin Center area, more than the visit of the coral reefs area and the use of educational tools, as it was in the past. Moreover, each child is receiving a special booklet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.org\/en\/the-citizen-of-the-ocean-passport\/educational-project-tohora-humpback-whale-who-are-you\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em>&#8220;Tohora, humpack whale who are you?&#8221;<\/em> <\/a>as a souvenir of their involvment into the French Polynesia conservation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">2013-2014<\/span> School project :<span style=\"color: #008000;\"> Awareness raising of the school children to the protection the Marine space of Moorea<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/a-web-P1030856.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"a web P1030856\" src=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/a-web-P1030856-284x213.jpg\" width=\"238\" height=\"179\" \/><\/a>For this year, goals are the same : give a better understanding of our natural marine ecosystem (corals, fish, marine mammals and emblematic species like sea turtles\u2026), understand the <strong>marine laws set up for the lagoon of Moorea <\/strong>since 2005 in order to increase the children awareness towards the necessity of protecting our marine ressources.\u00a0 The diffrence for this year is that every child will get a special booklet named<em> &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Livret-TOHORA-baleine-a%CC%80-bosse.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Tohora, Humpack whale who are you?<\/a>&#8220;<\/em> as a souvenir of their learning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This project is devides into 3 steps. First of all, the policeman from the city hall is presenting the PGEM (Management Plan for the Marine Areas of Moorea) into the classeroom.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Then, educators from Te mana o te moana are welcoming the chilren either at the Te mana o te moana foundatiion or at the beach of Tiahamanu where they will invite the children to visit an underwater trail during 45 minutes, visit the sea turtle clinic and the dolphins lagoon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/a-web-DSC05224.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-9262\" alt=\"a web DSC05224\" src=\"http:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/a-web-DSC05224.jpg\" width=\"310\" height=\"174\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/a-web-DSC05224.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/a-web-DSC05224-600x337.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/a-web-DSC05224-379x213.jpg 379w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 310px) 100vw, 310px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">School children also participated to pedagogic activities before returning at school.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As a souvenir of their learning, every child will get a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.org\/en\/the-citizen-of-the-ocean-passport\/educational-project-tohora-humpback-whale-who-are-you\/\" target=\"_blank\">booklet <\/a><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.temanaotemoana.org\/en\/the-citizen-of-the-ocean-passport\/educational-project-tohora-humpback-whale-who-are-you\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cTohora, humpback whale how are you?<\/a>\u201d<\/em>created to aim at a better understang of the marine mammals conservation. First animations were provided on December 04th, 2013 in the company of the school children from Haapiti Elementary school (see pictures) and will fiinished on May 2014.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The 4th intervention of the schoold children awareness project on the Marine areas protection of Moorea was on January 29th, 2014. In the company of our marine biologist, the school children of Papetoai Elementary school of Moorea have visited the underwater trail realized by Te mana o te moana during 45 minutes. This project has been punctuated by various interventions in the classroom and on the field (educational workshops, visit a coral garden\u2026). It was conducted by te mana o te moana, in partnership with the city hall of Maiao Moorea, the PGEM association, under the financial support of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fondation-nicolas-hulot.org\/\">Foundation \u201cNicolas Hulot, pour la Nature et l\u2019Homme\u201d<\/a>.
