Yesterday, 200kg of waste of all kinds were removed from the lagoon between Motu Ovini park and Faa’a airport. The rainy weather was not enough to demotivate the small, smiling team, who proved to be very efficient. On the ground were numerous plastic bottles, cans, plastic bags… But also a tricycle and a crutch! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How does the garbage get here? In addition to illegal dumpings, heavy rainfalls drain waste from the land through the river that ends there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, the swell phenomena such as the ones we’ve experienced over the last few days, bring waste in from the sea. As a result, a lot of garbage was trapped in the lagoon’s muddy soil and vegetation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why organizing clean-up actions? Garbage in the wild pollutes the soil and can be a great danger to wildlife : <\/p>\n\n\n\n

plastic in the digestive system, injuries, entanglement, disruption of the living environment… <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All those can be avoided by changing our habits! Together, let’s take care of our Fenua and its biodiversity <\/p>\n\n\n\n
