\n\t\t\tRelease of Iona in Papara: A New Beginning for a Green Turtle Rescued in Reao\t<\/h1>\n\t\t\t\t\"QUI-border\"\n\t

A beautiful story of resilience, solidarity, and marine life protection in Polynesia.<\/strong><\/h3>\nIn December 2024, Iona<\/strong>, an adult male green turtle<\/strong>, was released back into the wild on the beach of Papara<\/strong>, Tahiti, after two months of intensive care<\/strong> at our rehabilitation center.\n

A Turtle Rescued in Reao<\/strong><\/h3>\nIona was found trapped in a fishing net at Reao<\/strong> by the association Clermont Tonnerre<\/strong>. He was severely injured – with numerous wounds on his flippers and shell<\/strong>, as well as a bone infection<\/strong>.\n\t\t\t\t\"485793691_1061467689352276_8054571627817449953_n\"\n\t\t\t\t\"485082755_1061467469352298_4468305337936493560_n\"\n\t

He was taken care of at our center thanks to an extraordinary chain of solidarity:<\/strong><\/h3>\n

  • \nTransfer arranged by Air Tahiti<\/strong>\n<\/li>\n
  • \nWith the support of the Ocean Guardians Network<\/strong>,\n<\/li>\n
  • \nAnd the Environment Directorate of French Polynesia<\/strong>.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Two Months of Care and Monitoring<\/p>\nDuring his stay, Iona received specialized veterinary care<\/strong>, daily monitoring<\/strong>, and a lot of attention from our team and volunteers committed to marine species conservation<\/strong>. His gradual recovery was a strong sign of his resilience… and of the importance of human intervention in the face of threats to marine wildlife.\n

    Released in Papara: A Powerful and Emotional Moment<\/strong><\/h3>\nIt was on the beach of Papara that Iona returned to his natural habitat<\/strong>, witnessed with emotion by the participants who came to celebrate this important milestone in his journey.\nA big mauruuru<\/strong> to everyone present, as well as to our partners who contributed to the success of this release:\n
