Last Friday, our little Fatu, saved around 2 years ago as she was stuck at the bottom of a nest on the atoll of Tetiaroa, joined the ocean! Our team, with many volunteers of the organisation, took advantage of this happy event to celebrate the Polynesian Sea Turtle Day. This day was created in 2014 by the Ministry of Environment and the Bora Bora Turtle Center to celebrate sea turtles and the need to protect them. Here are some pictures, taken just before Fatu crossed her very first wave …
This small turtle arrived at our sea turtle clinic (authorized by a decree of the Ministry of Environment), very weak and covered with wounds caused by predation by crabs.
After she recovered, she went through a phase of rehabilitation to prevent her from contacts with humans in preparation for the big blue.
We all wish a long wild life to Fatu!
