17 years ago, on September 23rd, 2004, the foundation was created. 17 years during which the association worked with its teams, partners and volunteers for the protection of the Polynesian marine environment.
From the start of 2004, turtles were welcomed in the lagoon of the Moorea Intercontinental Hotel following a request from the Direction of the Environment of French Polynesia. A few months later, in September, once the objectives were set and the actions defined, the association was born with a meaningful name: TE MANA O TE MOANA, Spirit of the Ocean.
A special focus today on our co-founder and president Richard Bailey who has been supporting us for so many years.
A huge thank you also to all our past or present collaborators, to our teams of volunteers, to our partners and to all of you who have been supporting us and who have allowed our foundation to grow and shine!
All together, wherever we live on the planet, let’s continue to commit to reducing our impacts, to face climate emergencies and to limit the loss of biodiversity.
