Ipaca, a 47cm green turtle, arrived at the Sea turtle care center on Friday after being found by Maharepa residents floating, with no energy and covered with algae. Extremely thin with a hollow plastron and visible ribs, its health condition is critical.
The clinical exam revealed small injuries to the carapace, but above all the presence in the stool of a parasitic worm which could explain its poor health. Current medical treatment includes IV rehydration with antibiotic and antiparasitic injections.
We will make sure to keep you informed of its evolution, which currently remains uncertain.
