Last month, we had the pleasure of taking part in the launch of the FA’ATURA TE TAHATAI project, a “research-conservation” project on the coastal biodiversity of the Society Islands of French Polynesia.
The aim of this project is to :
* Carry out operations to restore native coastal vegetation
* Share a protocol based on the best scientific data, with feedback from concrete restoration actions on three islands in the Society archipelago (Tahiti, Moorea and Tetiaroa)
* Implement a wide-ranging awareness-raising program to help restore coastal biodiversity in French Polynesia and adapt to the effects of climate change
Each partner had the opportunity to present the project and discover one of the coastal restoration zones, as well as the Opunohu plant nursery, run by the Tahitian Historical Society
Project financed by : FONDS VERT / Fondation de France
Parteners : Comité français de l’UICN, Te Ora Naho – FAPE et Tahitian Historical Society and the Research Délégation of French Polynesia
