The 10th Monaco Blue Initiative took place on 24 and 25 March 2019 in Monaco under the presidency of Prince Albert II of Monaco on the theme ‘Marine Protected Areas’ (MPA).
A Marine Protected Area (MPA) is an area that combines land with the water column that covers it, its fauna, its flora, as well as its historical and cultural peculiarities. This is one of the conservation strategies used in the management of natural resources.
Dr. Cécile Gaspar, Co-Founder & Executive Director of Te mana o te moana, participated in this event and was able to share her experience in French Polynesia with many international participants. She also talked about the importance of Marine Educational Areas (AME) as Te mana o te moana is responsible for children’s education on AME locally.
Many important stakeholders working for the protection of the environment were present. A unique opportunity for all to exchange on concrete actions for the protection of the biodiversity, the preservation of maritime areas, the sustainable use of resources and more generally for the harmonious coexistence of human beings and nature.
A big thank you to Air Tahiti Nui for its support!
