On April 2nd, Diego, a juvenile green turtle was released after many months at the Sea turtle Clinic of Moorea, authorized by Ministerial decree.
Born in August 2014 on Tetiaroa, Diego was found wedged into a nest during nest monitoring on beaches conducted by our foundation since more than 5 years on Tetiaroa’s atoll. Very weak, wounded at the neak and on the flippers, she was brought back to the Clinic right away with some other individuals. Weighing 880 grams when she arrived, she’s now measuring 40 centimeters for 7 kilos. She has been released on April 2nd with the volunteers of the foundation and Florient Kirchner, chargé des projets “Espèces” à l’UICN (Union Internationale pour la Conservation de la Nature). This released has been realized thanks to the scuba diving center Top Dive and the Direction of the Environment in French Polynesia.
