At the end of January, Moorea and Tahiti have been affected by heavy rain and wind, with rain levels that have reached records. To respond to the risk associated with this storm for the turtles that are placed in our natural lagoon, all team has been mobilised to evacuate the turtles. They were all placed in safe tanks inside our laboratory until the storm ended 3 days later. They all are very well now, and have returned to their calm enclosed natural rehabilitation lagoon since Monday !
We acknowledge our volunteers and interns for their implication and their reactivity in the emergency of this unexpected situation. All our thoughts are now going to the victims in Tahiti that have suffered and continue to suffer from this terrible storm’s consequences…
