During the awards to the winners of the National Competition Geosciences on Thursday, June 13th, te mana o te moana has been invited to present the film Planet Ocean from Yann Arthus Bertrand and its Foundation Good Planet (movie co-directed with Michael Pitiot with the support of OMEGA and produced by Hope Production). This projection was the highlight of this awards ceremony for the winners but also for teachers resources into Sciences at schools (SVT : Science and Life of Earth) and for the leaders of Schools teachers in French Polynesia. This event was celebrated in the presence of the Vice-President and representatives of the Ministry of Education Michel Leboucher. A special program of pedagogical use of the film
into schools and colleges of Polynesia is in preparation for the next school year. Then, Dr. Cécile Gaspar, president of the association mana o te moana presented a unique slideshow on “the earth from space“, thanks to the support of photos and the sponsor of our patron, the astronaut Jean-Francois Clervoy (three space missions assets) and whose photos are highly esteemed. The clichés showed the beauty of the blue planet but also and especially its fragility and the areas already damaged by the human being. Students of 17 years old (1st S level) were awared of the importance of scientific research but also and mainly they were reinforced in the idea that we must believe in your dreams, never get discouraged and that the Science and Exploration will remain a sector in the future … with hundreds of new jobs in which they will have chance to develop themselves and evolve.
