To celebrate the Earth day and the Sea turtles day, we welcomed the President of French Polynesia, Mr Edouard Fritch on Saturday 28th of March 2015, invited to release “Tereori” (Titi), a green turtle of the Sea Turtle Clinic ready to go back to the ocean.
Titi, renamed “Tereori” by the President is the 183rd sea turtle released after having had veterinary cares at the Clinic since July 2014, authorized by Ministerial decree from the Direction of the Environment.
At her arrival, Tereori was very weakened (weighing 13 kilos) and with damages on her shell. She was found by tourists in Rangiroa, on the reef, in front of the airport.
Renamed on October 21st by the President, she was released on March 28th for the earth hour day hour, in great shape, weighing 24 pounds this time for a length of 60 cm. Thanks to the Maud Fontenoy Foundation, Tereori is equipped by a satellite transmitter in order to get more informations about the sea turtles migrations, their food areas, from French Polynesia.
