On Monday 21st, our foundation welcomed with great pleasure the President of the French Polynesia, Edouard Fritch, accompanied by the Minister in charge of the Tourism Jean-Christophe Bouissou, the Minister of the Labor, Tea Frogier, the Minister of the Equipment Albert Solia, the Mayor of Moorea-Maiao Evans Haumani, the second mayor Franck Taputuarai, two representants of the French Polynesian Assembly John Toromona at Vaiata Friedman, and Paul Sloan the director of the GIE Tahiti Tourism.
During more than one hour, Cécile Gaspar, our President, made him discover the Sea turtle Clinic and its boarders (350 sea turtles welcomed). It was also an oppportunity to meet Maud Fontenoy and her foundation who works closely since many years with te mana o te moana for the delivering of educational toolkits and the satellite tagging of sea turtles. During the visit, the President Edouard Fritch enjoyed following an educational program delivered by our animator Magali Soria to the school children of Atinuu Kindengarten from Punaauuia, Tahiti ( 35 children of 4 years old and their teachers Purea and Josiane). Then, the delegation discovered with Vie Jourdan, the education officer the numerous educational supports created by the foundation since 10 years and raising awareness of more than 56 000 children.
The President Edouard Fritch has also got the opportunity to tag the green turtle “Titi”, welcomed from Rangiroa in July in a very bad health. Brought back at the Clinic thanks to Air Tahiti, she was cared by the team for a few months and is starting to be ready for the soon release.
