Here are some photographs sent by our eco-volunteers and interns in live from our nesting monitoring program on Tetiaroa!
On this atoll composed of 12 motu (“small islands” in Tahitian), nesting green sea turtles are regularly observed between November and April. Every year since 2007, our organization, with an agreement of the Ministry of the Environment, ensures a field monitoring during the entire nesting season on Tetiaroa. This year, Antonin, Mai, Virginie, Margaux, Martijn and Cécile have succeeded one another in teams to collect data.
This year is a great season for the nesting of green sea turtles in Tetiaroa, with number of tracks and nests counted that have already outnumbered the ones from previous years. The results will be shared at the end of the season and the data will be precious information for the conservation of this endangered species.
We would like to thank our volunteers for their motivation and support (especially during the hard awaken nights!), Tetiaroa Society for their work all along the year, Pacsafe for the donation of bags very useful for the field but also Richard Bailey and the Ministry of the Environment for their crucial help.
