Some single use plastics will be definitively banned in the European Union starting in 2021. Here is the list of prohibited products:
• cotton swab sticks
• straws
• coffee taps and cocktail mixers
• disposable cutlery
• plates
• balloon stems
All of these items will have to be produced from sustainable materials.
However, this list does not include water bottles or plastic glasses for example. For these products, other measures are planned which are expected to be restrictive measures and not prohibitions. There is still a long way to go!
Each year, plastic kills and injures sea turtles in our oceans. We need to act now to limit our plastic consumption!
