👉 In recent months, we have welcomed many distressed juvenile green turtles. To date:

🌊 2 of them were recently released into the ocean:
Tatiavao (found trapped in its nest and weakened in Rangiroa) and Teiho (found in Tetiaroa, weak and with the yolk sac unabsorbed at birth).

🏥 10 from Tetiaroa joined our center in May, and we are providing them with the necessary care. We hope they will overcome this critical period and be able to be released in the coming weeks.

Some are already thriving in our floating nurseries in the rehabilitation lagoon, while others are still housed in the care room. Overall, their condition is currently encouraging.

✨ Unfortunately, five others did not survive:

  • ArcHonu passed away this weekend from an as yet unknown cause, after several months of care. She had stopped feeding for several days and showed a generally apathetic and weak condition, despite our efforts to treat her.

  • Poema, Anavai, Manea, and Ihu Iti, our four residents injured by crabs at birth, died as a result of their injuries.

👉 𝗜𝗼𝗮𝗻𝗲, A juvenile green turtle found floating in the lagoon in Tahiti, which we took in a month ago, unfortunately died in early June. The cause of its condition remains unknown.

👉 Our other permanent residents, Miti Iti, Okely, and Matapo, are doing well despite their disabilities. As for Atea, a young turtle that arrived over a year ago at birth with a malformation of the front flipper, she is regularly undergoing rehabilitation exercises in the hope of regaining sufficient mobility for a future release. You can see them in our rehabilitation lagoon!

A huge thank you to our team and all our volunteers for their daily dedication to our protected animals.💙
