conservation of the sea turtles in French Polynesia. With every art piece purchased of the green turtle called “Tuffy”, a significant amount of the profits are donated to the Te Mana o Te Moana non-profit organization in French Polynesia.
Tuffy is a green turtle found at the age of about 6 years old in the Tikehau lagoon turning in circles and surrounded by sharks. Repatriated to the Sea Turtle Clinic of Mo’orea thanks to the partnership established in 2004 with the airlines company Air Tahiti. She was wounded by a spear gun in the neck and some of scales are missing above the beak and the carapace. Today, the injury of the neck is completely cicatrized. At her arrival, Tuffy weighed 8 kg at 42.4 cm long. After 3 years of staying at the clinic, she now weighs 23kg at 58.2 cm long. You can see Tuffy in one of the “two intensive care parks” which are located on the sides of the main lagoon of the Sea Turtle Clinic at Intercontinental Resort on the Island of Moorea.
