In recent weeks, our care center has welcomed three new young green turtles, freshly hatched from their nests. Originating from Tetiaroa and Rangiroa, these hatchlings were taken in by our team after being found in distress. Today, they are receiving the necessary care in the hope that one day they will return to the ocean in full health.
Found in January 2025, ArcHonu had superficial lesions on her body and a partially missing left front flipper. She is now comfortably settled in the nursery, under close supervision by our team.
Named after the motu where she was found, Tatiavao was discovered trapped in her nest, weak and without energy. She is now just over two months old and is also enjoying the comfort of the nursery to regain her strength.
Teiho, the youngest of the three, is experiencing a delay in absorbing her yolk reserves after hatching. She is currently being cared for in the treatment room, where she will continue to grow for a few more weeks before joining her companions.
The nursery, located near the turtle lagoon, is a space specially designed for juvenile turtles in recovery. If you visit our center, you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of ArcHonu and Tatiavao as they learn to thrive in marine life.
Teiho, for her part, remains out of sight for now, taking the time to regain strength in complete safety.
A huge mauruuru roa to our dedicated team, our passionate volunteers, and all our partners who make this mission possible every day:
